Why do so many people on here insult other users when answering questions?

I've seen so many insults being hurled at questioners, even when the question is totally normal. Why is this? Are people just lacking respect these days? or are they failures who need to put down other people? maybe you should all add a compliment or nice word at the end of your answers to combat this all! lol
